That is an interesting defintion.  Remembering that "derived from" generally means 'isolated, purified and concentrated', that definition rules out thymol, formic acid and all the essential oils, since honeybees never come into contact with those compounds in anything like the concentrations that they are used as treatments.   What would that definition leave as "natural"?
