I have used supers with holes drilled in them, Imirie shims, and provided 
top entrances for my bees...my experience was that very few bees chose to 
use any of those entrances.  I just figured they preferred the bottom board 
because that was where most of the nectar processors were.   Anyway, does 
anyone know what percentage of foragers deposit their nectar droplets 
directly into a cell vs offloading to a nectar processing bee.
