All beekeepers know that the use of any particular miticide is
unsustainable.

Most assume that eventually Apis mellifera will evolve so that most stocks
are resistant to varroa.

No beekeeper likes having to use chemical mite control (we all envy the
Australians!).

The problem is that there are markets that consistently require huge
numbers of live colonies for pollination and to produce honey. As soon as
organic beekeepers demonstrate successful methods that allow them to out
compete conventional beekeepers, the conventional beekeepers will quickly
adopt those methods.

If one wishes to effect change in a system, one needs only to lead by
successful example.
