I have sometimes brought honey from Canada to the US for resale. Solely a
special type of comb honey produced without foundation. Normally when
bringing in food for resale there is certain paperwork involved that must
be in place before arriving at US Customs. However, there is an exemption
for product with a value of under $2,000.

The first time I did this I just showed up at US Customs with my product
and the vendor invoice that totaled just less than $2,000. I quickly found
that this still involved me waiting until someone decided whether someone
would inspect the product...after 30 minutes the decision was that I could
proceed without inspection. At that time I was also told that if I advised
them that I was coming, they would make the inspection decision before I
arrived. So thereafter I filed a certain form (by Internet) a few days
before arrival and when I arrived and they verified who I was I was always
sent on my way without inspection or delay.

All this is on a FDA web site. Start with www.access.fda.gov.

Good luck,

Lloyd
