Hello everyone,

We are urgently trying to confirm whether the African stingless bee genus Meliponula does in fact sonicate
(buzz pollinate) flowers with pored anthers (e.g. Solanum), or if it only gleans pollen left on corollas after visits by legitimate buzzing bees (e.g. Amegilla). Please contact us asap if you have information (personal observations or know of a published literature reference) on floral buzzing behavior by Meliponula in Africa.

We are not talking about Melipona or Trigona etc., but only the genus Meliponula.

Thanking you in advance for any help you can provide!

Sincerely,

Steve
