​I live in Maine and we must wash the containers and dip them in water and
bleach that is​ 200 ppm then air dry, we can use a fan to hasten the drying
time. The wash can be running them through a dishwasher. Lids are wash by
hand and also dipped in bleach water. Liquid honey is the most popular and
customers do not like unsugaring honey in plastic, so I only sell in glass.
I do sell creamed honey in plastic tubs, which are washed by hand and
dipped in bleach too.

Each state has their own regulations, Maine is very specific. We also have
to use chlorine test strips to insure our water has 200 ppm of bleach for
dipping.
