I will dump close to a full bag of pollen sub out on a large tarp when I get my bees to Florida and they will gather most of it up in one day. I may have one or two loads on the farm for  a short time until I can spread them out.
If the weather forcast is questionable, I will wait until good weather to dump the dry sub out. Moisture is not good on sub.
It's incredible to see huge clouds of bees on the sub. They can be so thick that it seems like one could walk over them. I think spreading dry pine needles or fine sticks on the sub is a good idea for the bees to land on.
I've also put out drums on there sides inclined to shed rain with sub in them for the smaller outyards of 80 hives.
