I haven't heard of this one.  I have heard of chalkbrood supposedly stopping 
AFB which in my experience is not right.  I have seen plenty of case with 
both AFB and chalkbrood in the same hive.  Where does this claim about 
stopping EFB come from?  I have seen a couple of cases of both EFB (my 
diagnosis) and chalkbrood in the same hive.
