In 2004 I began using the Heilyser oxalic vaporizer. Treated the bees
in mid-November, and saw average mite levels the following May. By
August, 2005 some colonies were in trouble. I vaporized again that
November, and saw high mite levels in May. By August many colonies were
in trouble. I called Heilyser and said their vaporizer and the oxalic
weren't controlling the varroa population. He told me to vaporize three
times, seven days apart. I spent the month of September vaporizing my bees.

First did an alcohol wash. Mite numbers were 15-25 approx. Vaporized
that day and twice more at seven day intervals. Then waited seven days
and did another alcohol wash. The mite numbers stayed the same or went up.

Before the first vaporization I marked frames of eggs, larvae, and
sealed brood. At the second wash I looked at marked frames. I could see
no brood damage or break in brood rearing. I also didn't see any mite
control.
Mike
