I find the top entrance (inner Cover) useful for wintering and prior to
placing honey supers on. Top entrance during honey gathering I find
interferes with colony management, bees piling in over the rim of the top
super. And there is a higher incidence of pollen being placed in honey
supers with top entrance. Do bees wish to encourage the queen to move up or
just anxious to get out quicker?
