A readable account of the communication issues with honeybees is the
book by Gould & Gould published by the Scientific American group.
Gould, J.L. & C.G.Gould, 1988. THE HONEY BEE. Scientific American
Library.
This book is not as comprehensive as the title suggests, but the
issues of language/communication are well tackled in a readable
way.
The U of Guelph has just developed an animated video on the
dance-language of honey bees. I haven't seen it yet because it
is so new and may be available or not right now. If you want
more information, please write to Cynthia Scott-Dupree,
Dept. Environ Biol, U of Guelph, Guelph, Ont. N1G 2W1, Canada.
Cheers, Peter Kevan.
