I realize that sucrose is somewhat better

Those in areas of hard winter feel sucrose is worth the extra cost. In
Florida many feel HFCS is the better choice.

I had good
> overwintering last year on HFCS 55.

And if you had bad wintering would you suspect a bad load of HFCS? I have
heard beeks express concern over winter issues with HFCS but have never
heard beeks using sucrose blame sucrose for winter issues.

>I believe my bees winter better on sucrose but really have no proof as too
>many variables.

I am surprised many beeks choose to buy the higher priced syrup but today
bee nutrition is a high priority.
In California beeks at times use a half and half syrup ( HFCS /sucrose) to
save money I suppose.

Hard data and research would be nice. I think HFCS has more spec issues than
sucrose.
