Peter and others: if a treatment used as a miticide that means killing. In the case of miticides used as natural or synthetics they kill and can cause damage. Bees and mites are very close relatives as arthropods. I am not surprised to read this report. You already pointed out a good point. Are we safer keeping mites in he hives without treatment or should we accept some damage to bees from used miticides? The answer is clear, till we find safer means to kill mites without any damage to bees. We can accept a non significant side effects. Once we move the reseach to the colony level then we might find different results and the impact can be acceptable.
