It could also be said that Commercial Beekeeping as practiced today in the
US really began with the political decisions to keep oil prices at less than
the cost to replace, and to instead transfer billions of dollars in US
wealth to Arab (and other) oil exporting nations.  Without the huge
subsidies of gasoline and diesel fuel, it would not be possible to practice
US Commercial Beekeeping.
