>>>  Claims regarding resistance have recurred so persistently that they can no longer be ignored. Either there is truth in these claims or there is not.<><><>  I've been attempting treatment free beekeeping for over fifteen years now and had success up until this past year when one yard experienced the mite bomb effect.  So, my assumption is that my bees weren't really mite resistant.  They just had not been exposed to a heavy influx of mite overload.  I'm now a proponent of OA treatment for my hives.      I do plan to try to import some queens whose lines are claimed to be effective with mite control to incorporate into my hive population.   One goal is to do a better job of monitoring the mite population in my hives.
