So long as this thread is on "terminology," I'd like to point out that in
eusocial insects, the term "caste" refers to the females only.
In honey bees, there are two morphological castes--the queen and the
workers, as well as additional physiological and behavioral subcastes of
the worker caste.
Drones are often erroneously referred to as a "caste," but if that were the
case, all male animals (including *Homo sapiens*) would also need to be
considered as a "caste."
