Karen remember that sweet clover is a considered a weed in some places. 
Some areas have actually classified it as a noxious weed.  It prefers 
alkaline soils like we have here in the west.  Once planted or invades it is 
forever.  They do not know how long the seed is viable.  Test have shown 
viability for all age classes of seed.  Bees absolutely love it.  It is 
frequently found growing in gravel pits around here.  It does not need much 
soil.
