Is it possible to go over how Canada is handling the heavy metal side of
the formic acid
treatments and what they are doing and/or how regulating, to not worry
about hive product contaminations of honey, wax, propolis, and pollen?

I hear that there is a difference in over the counter
Formic Acid sold say vs. that for food usage or isn't this
true?

DEE:

Our regulations and recommendations require that formic acid should be
Food Grade quality. The chemical companies provides Certificate of
analysis of the product including heavy metals and MSDS sheet with any
product. The beekeepers' suppliers keep these information in file. These
documents are examined by the Pest Management Regulatory Agency and
Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA)Inspectors. Any violators are fined.
As a mater of fact, one supplier was fined few years ago. The other
quality is industrial grade that is not allowed for use by beekeepers. In
addition, the CFIA annually analyze hundreds of samples for antibiotics
residues, heavy metals and adulteration. Our beekeepers work hard to
maintain the quality and they are very good in observing these
regulations.
