> >Randy, I am interested to know how you would measure the queen bees

Hi Trevor, I would not measure the queen bees--I would measure the colony's
ability to produce copious quantities of jelly. I would measure total
weight of jelly + queen larvae, then remove them and repeat until jelly
production drops off.

I am currently at the Calif beekeepers convention, where Dr Eischen is
presenting results of feeding trials. Mann Lake + pro-len + 4% pollen
tested very well in a test funded by Mann Lake. The addition of lemongrass
and spearmint oils did not appear to help.

MegaBee fared poorly, perhaps since it was not taken well. I asked Dr
Wardell (the developer) about that, and he said that MegaBee is designed to
be fed as a patty along with simultaneous syrup feeding, since it has such a
high protein content. He feels that it was not a fair trial.

I also spoke with Dave Ellingson, who distributes FeedBee, as well as other
beekeepers who have used it. They report that beekeepers are happy with the
product.
