Thanks for posting that.  I recall seeing it some time back and wondering how often, if ever, research meets those ideals.

It seems that most often some, but not all of those conditions are met, although we are never sure how many and how well.

Most of the time, it seems, we must judge based on imperfect work, opinons, instinct, ad hoc measurements, and chicken entrails.
