I was surprised by Mr Lionel Evans’ attitude towards ants. They do relatively little harm and the colonies established near my hives are useful scavengers. It seems that it would be easy to move the hives a little and use the tray of water to deter them. 
It is strange that a beekeeper of all people should want to use poison to exterminate another species for his own convenience.
