Whether the recent question was joking or not, many believe that AFB can be
spread by hive tools and gloves.

I have been told that several years ago Penn State did an experiment trying
to infect larvae by using a hive tool and that no matter what they did it
was impossible to infect in this manner. "Feeding" seems to be necessary
and the nurse bees did not pick up the spores from the hive tool slobbering.

I also understand that drone larvae are somehow resistant to infection. The
answer 'why' or 'how' might someday be important.

Lloyd
