I watched a swarm take flight this afternoon. Before they left I watched
several bees repeating the same dance on the outside of the cluster.

The waggle phase was almost vertical and lasted about 5 seconds. The
direction of there flight matches the dance as they went South-West
directly into the afternoon sun.

What I would like to know is is what kind of distance the dance indicates
so I can start looking for thier new hive.
