I have to say that I was amazed by the description of cerana as an 
aggressive, stinging bee.  Is this a different subspecies from those that I 
have seen in S India and Thailand?  There they were wonderfully docile, with 
little or no smoke required.

In India nobody even owned a veil and some beekeepers worked in a 
traditional lunghi - naked from the waist up.  I do not remember anyone ever 
being stung.
