I wonder which Mint?

I have several times had a strong peppermint smelling honey when extracting.
On the strength of that I searched and found several acres of overgrown
peppermint in an unused field. Thus I assume that Peppermint in not a repellent
that can be relied on to keep foragers away.

Though strong smelling in extracting we could, unfortunately, NOT taste the
peppermint in the honey.

Then I have never been bothered by honey bees on a picnic so wonder if these
bees were really yellow jacket wasps which are VERY annoying in late summer
and fall.
