I do not use auger holes, how ever after reading Chris comments about round
versus rectangular I remember one of my mentors. He drill the holes with a
30º or so angle pointing down and the holes are not un the center of the box
but rather towards one side (3/4th the box).

He says that doing the holes this ways have more advantajes that the
classical straight auger in the middle of the box.
