I have a Top Bar Hive with the entrance hole at one end.  This hole can be
described by joining your finger tip to thumb tip.  The bees once made a
propolis screen reducing the entrance to a single bee way in the centre of
the hole.  Wasps were troublesome that year but I don't know whether that was
the reason for this behavior.
