There are a multitude of barcode products available. UPC is one type
usually used specifically for retail scanners and registers etc. I work for
a manufacturer as a computer specialist and use barcodes quite extensively.
My preference for 'information only' barcodes is CODE39. It literally is
just a font set you can use from any word processor and print to a laser or
inkjet printer. Check out any of the catalog computer retailers for
relatively inexpensive barcoding products.
