In the US you can buy denatured ethonal from hardware stores as a
paint and varnish solvent at a much better price.  It is probably
tech grade but that doesn't matter for keeping samples in.  You might
want to try freezing as the bees cut nicely frozen in my experience
and it is not a smelly as working with alcohol.
