Hi all,

Carpet tack strips are cheap and can be nailed business side up to pallets or
scrap plywood in front of hives. Skunks do their killing in depressions dug
in front of the colony. Lead pills are a final solution.

Here in California, urban encroachment has resulted in loss of habitat for
owls - which is the primary natural predator of the skunk. Skunks are now
extremely common. Here in CA virtually every skunk has rabies. I encourage
every beekeeper to build a owl house and place it high in a tree or protected
spot to provide sanctuary for this very valuable natural skunk control.
