One of my honey aficionado friends spotted this one:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jan/31/new-zealand-brings-first-manuka-honey-prosecution-chemicals

"...artificial DHA is not designed to be added to food and so does not undergo the necessary safety tests to ensure it is food grade. The chemical is normally used in fake-tan lotions as the active ingredient that makes skin turn an orangey-brown colour."

Barf! Couldn't figure what the rage was about Manuka until I looked up the plant - it's tea tree. The natural health care industry has been scamming the public for decades with tea tree oil...ie, charging a king's ransom for the "best" "most pure" "best extraction methods", etc. No doubt this latest craze has been revved up in part by Hollywood - at least one actress who has a booming high-end products biz has been promoting it.
