Hello Jim & All,

Jim asks:
Would you go into more detail in how you do a complete
teardown and remake of each hive in the spring to help prevent swarming.

Basically we go through each hive looking for problems . We adjust brood so
all hives are the same strength. The amount of brood left (and field bees)
depends on when the flow were are preparing for is to start.

The above is very labor intensive but we feel easier than fighting swarming
, robbing and not being able to be able to give all hives in the same yard a
super at the same time when needed. Of course the situation changes towards
the end of a major honey flow.

I believe in the archives I might have went into greater detail. Sorry for
the late reply as I have been out of town and leaving again in the morning.

Bob
