How do I know when the honey season is over? Despite my scare last week,
my Buckfast bees seem to be foraging furiously. There was a brief slack
in the beginning of July when we had no rain. But after the recent rain,
foraging really picked up. The bees have been going at it non-stop since
then. I have no idea where they are going, but they are going somewhere.
:-)

I put a single shallow super on to see if they did anything with it. They
quickly drew out the foundation.

Was this a mistake? Should I not have they super on and let the bees keep
whatever they are gathering?

I imagine the nectar flow will turn off soon since August in New Jersey
tends be dry. How will I know for certain the nectar flow has stopped?

I don't plan on taking any of the Fall honey and I do want to treat for
the mites in time to be effective. Any newbie advice? :-)

Thanks... Bob
