We beat the Crisco with a fork (or mixer at LOW speed). This makes it
creamy. Mix Terramycin with dry ingredient(s) first (sugar) then with a
spoon mix in to the creamed Crisco. We sometimes use a mixer for this
step too but end up using a spoon since we like the patties very stiff,
especially in warm weather. And we mix in a pollen substitute.

We were warned NOT to use plastic when using anything we would not want
to eat, since many plastics will adsorb a little of most chemicals.

Only needed if stressed or showing excrement stains on front of hive.

Try a little for either. If they're getting enough outside they'll
ignore your offerings

Generally YES! Keep the doorway of small hive very small and increase
slowly when congestion causes a lineup.
You could also experiment with anti-robing screens.

Suggest you use neither until you test positive for mites. These days
it is absolutely NECESSARY to learn to inspect/test for mites.

After a long time without Internet connection I feel awfully cut off but
am catching up on promises etc. So if you have any questions you can
always email me directly. My wife and I will be glad to tell you what
we do and why.

Good Luck
