I am reminded of what Sue Cobey told us at Gormanston this year during her  
talk on basic bee genetics.  She introduced the concept of epigenetics,  which 
she defined as any process that alters or modifies gene expression -  turning 
genes off and on - but she said the genes themselves are not  changed.
