Hi Allen:

My bees have been wolfing down pollen patties placed on the top of the
second brood chamber. I am feeding them sugar syrup as well and that seems
to encourage them to go after the patties.

At this time of year there is usually a big bloom of varroa as the queens
have restricted space to lay in from the syrup feeding. My sticky board
counts were up to an average of 40 per day last week. I decided to do my OA
vaporization right away and completed it on Friday. I put some sticky
boards out on Friday and read them on Sunday. An average of 273 per day. I
will probably do another vaporization about Halloween.

I did an OA trickling treatment early in the spring but I did not put out
the sticky boards at that time; wish I had. I tried a little icing sugar
dusting over the summer and it does kill mites. Obviously I should be doing
more.

                                    Best regards

                                    Donald Aitken
