Resurrecting the Paul Stamets and bee-saving Mushrooms thread to give an update:

Last month, Dr. Ernesto Guzman gave a presentation to the Alberta Beekeepers Commission on a study he supervised in 2013:

Sinia, A. 2013:    Evaluation of the Fungi Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium anisopliae, and Clonostachys rosea, as Bio-control Agents against the Honey Bee Parasitic Mite, Varroa destructor.    University of Guelph PhD Thesis.

Significant points from his presentation:
- 25C is the optimal temperature for these Fungi, and they don't germinate > 35C.- These Fungi did a good job at killing mites, but they also did a good job at killing bees.
Dr. Guzman concluded by stating that there is more research that can be done in this area, *but* he felt that time and money would be better spent researching more promising matters.
The grin that accompanied this observation suggested that he was being overly kind, and that he had no interest in pursuing this avenue further.
