Sorry if that was unclear. From the 3rd Edition of Honey Bee Pests, Predators, & Diseases by Morse & Flottum, (1997) we get the following recommended sample sizes (per colony):

nosema          10 worker bees
trachael mites          50
dying adults            100
varroa mites            200-400
