I suspect a lot of funding comes from people who don't really understand
bees and beekeeping. So many of my non-beekeeping (but beeloving) friends
think this is really great and would make my life so much easier. I see
them as contributors.

In Hawaii, a prominent chef had an 'Adopt a Hive' program. I tried hard to
get people to 'Adopt a Researcher' as hives come and go, but true research
stays with us. No luck. People go for trendy.
