I am a scientist by profession. In my view, no research is misdirected, within generally accepted moral parameters. My point was that the anguish was misdirected, not the research. One can anguish only so much about so many things; I was making a call for perspective, is all. 

Taken out of context my statements may appear cavalier, that's the price one pays for having an ongoing discussion. If anyone has paid attention to the discussion over the past few years, one would understand the context of the statements made on a given day. 

Soundbite culture is shallow at best; it takes a long time and a lot of effort to examine these issues and make course corrections. I am in this discussion for the long haul, not to make sweeping proclamations and move on to something else. We are building a body of work here at Bee-L, FWIW.
