For my bees(I dont know the Florida beeks wayof measuring-I strongly suspect 
he used a sugar roll-will ask him) I simply go through about 20 mature drone 
cells/hive and find number with mites. The patterns are generally starkly 
obvious by then though drone infestation may be "clumpy".
According to the best of my knowledge from reading and talking to 
researchers you will have 8-12x infestation in drone vs worker. Randy also 
mentioned this in a column of his sometime back
