Research carried out in Australia several years ago showed that roundup
(glysophate) did not affect honeybees.  Hence it was safe to use around
beehives.
 
There is one side effect in that there is a build up of resistance of several
weeds in Australia to glysophate.  Research on this is currently being carried
out.
