The real danger from food is not pesticides. They rank below food borne disease, poor nutrition, and even naturally occurring toxins, in the list of the hazards of eating.

> A pesticide residue monitoring survey was conducted by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA). The survey of 5,500 food samples including fruits and vegetables showed that nearly 85 percent had no detectable residues whatsoever. In addition, 12 percent of the samples contained residues at less than 50 percent of the established tolerance levels.

> Toxicologists tell us that pesticide residues, as a hazard in our food supply, would rank lower than the following: (1) food-borne disease caused by the way food is handled or stored, (2) poor nutrition due to improper food choices, (3) environmental contaminants, and (4) naturally occurring toxicants in food. -- Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service

> About 67,000 pesticide poisonings resulting in an estimated twenty-seven accidental fatalities are reported each year in the US -- Pimentel, & al. College of Agriculture and Life Sciences,
Cornell University

> One in six Americans suffers from a food-borne illness annually, a "substantial burden" on the country, according to the FDA. Of those who get sick, about 130,000 end up hospitalized and 3,000 die. -- Los Angeles Times. January 4, 2013
