I had always understood that varroa's role in DWV (and others) was to 
spread the virus and wasn't the source.    Thus I really didn't see it 
as new news.  It may be scientifically interesting, but the details tend 
to get lost on the public.   Every time such a thing comes out I get a 
new set of concerned non-beekeepers asking if the latest 'old' malady is 
wiping out all my bees.   Only good thing is that it does keep bees in 
the public eye.
