Hi Pete and all

My biweekly mite counts, using sticky boards, have been low since I
started in early July. The highest count, this year, was on one of
my largest hives at 4 mites in 48 hours last week. Many others in
this area are seeing lower than normal mite counts. A beginning to
the end of varroa?? I don't think so!!!! When you lose a colony over
winter, the mites in that colony die too. I lost most of my hives
last winter so maybe thats why my counts are low this year. One of
the survivors had high counts last year.

Monitoring Method: Sticky Board from Ontario Recommendations
Number of Varroa Mites in May: 9 mites/24hr drop
Number of Varroa Mites in August: 12 mites/24hr drop
