> Hi again Joe - I didn't get your email until after I split the hive today. There were a lot of bees on the outside the the entrance today but after opening them it appeared that they had not swarmed. It was a lot more work than your method and I never found the queen even after screening all the bees through the QE. So I split them up with some queen cells in both hives and gave them both new foundation, sprayed with sugar syrup with lemongrass, in the outside of both deeps each. I gave them sugar syrup to stimulate them to build out the foundation. So if the old queen is still there I don't think they will swarm now and I guess I'll see in about ten days what has happened. If there is anything I have learned it's when you think you know what is going to happen you can still be surprised!

Scott
