It would be very interesting to hear whether any of those hives with 
more than 2 frames of capped brood are still with us next spring.  Has 
she shut down now (no eggs/larva)?  Those used to be the ones that 
wouldn't ever stop and ate themselves out of house & home by 
January/February.   Most of us here can't even find our hives at that 
time of year, let alone feed.  Farmer's Almanac & Environment Canada are 
predicting a La Nina winter; long, cold with very heavy snowfalls.  The 
latter not being a bad thing if everything else is ok.  Snow is a great 
insulator.  Just means you have to open up your yards with a plow or 
blower at the end of March so things warm up and dry out quickly.
