I don't remember Langstroth putting up a research proposal to anyone.

There have been some delivered previously to persons hereabouts, North
East, New South Wales, Australia. Which is where the bods who are
involved live. I do not know them but they are members of the local
amateur bee club I am informed. I have seen one super, however the
owner never got around to putting it on. It was displayed at the clubs
last meeting.

It appears to have some problems as mention on this list. However my
worry is that the amount of honey left for the bees to clean up after an
"extraction", especially if all seven combs are extracted will lead to
robbing during a dearth. In suberbia this could be disastrous if it
makes the press. Worse still if someone hanging out the washing got stung.

Whether or not it will fly in the long run only time will tell. I well
remember IBM's prediction on PCs. And of course the first motor
vehicles were about as much use as a hip pocket in a singlet. Likewise a
certain flying machine.

See above if you just need reassurance that they are living flesh. I
assume the address the bee club would have is their home address. I have
no idea where they are manufacturing them or shipping from.
