I removed the Apistan from my hive yesterday and was very surprised at the
small size and apparently erratic pattern of the brood nest. We've had
several weeks of very cold weather, followed by yesterday's 60 degrees so I
would guess that the brood nest would be smaller than the midsummer nests
I'm used to, but is this a correct assumption? And if so, what is an
appropriate size nest for this time of year? The only photos I've seen have
been taken in the summertime, I think.
