Regarding medicinal properties of propolis.
 
Both honey and propolis feature in folk remedies.  I can understand
why honey has antibiotic properties.  The hive's food supplies must
be preserved from decay.  But why should propolis have properties of
this sort?  What survival advantage does it give to the bees?
